FIND IT: How to Kick Off Your Personal Branding Journey

Where are you in your personal branding journey? LEAP recently surveyed Millennial women and learned that this demographic segment has high awareness of what branding is about and how its principles can be applied to help get what you want out of life and career. Verbatims from the study reveal a deep respect for the power of an effective branding platform.

“I think every woman in college should have a personal brand in order to make themselves feel good and align themselves up for future success.”

“I think it is a crucial part of success in the social media driven job search that is occurring nowadays. You aren't just an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper anymore.”

“I think it is incredibly underrated but incredibly useful tactic, especially with our generation's large access to and prevalence of social media.”

Other generations can learn from this enterprising group. These Millennials do more than talk about branding; they follow the LEAP “battle cry”( LEAP Blog April 7, 2016 - Battle Cry): Your Personal Brand: Find it. Own it. Live it.

  • 25% have already developed or started developing their personal brand

  • 40% plan to develop their personal brand in the next 6 months

Which group do you fall into? If you’ve already developed a personal brand, congratulations! If you’re just getting started, you’re in good company. There are some Millennials who are still “figuring it out.”

“I am totally lost in terms of what steps I need to take for my personal brand”

“I have only heard of it recently, so I would like to develop a plan but I am not sure how as of now.”

“I am still figuring myself out, how can I brand myself at the same time?”

In order to Find It, you need to delve deep inside yourself to get at your core values, goals, and dreams. Here are three questions to help you embark on your own personal branding journey:

  • What makes you unique?

  • If there was one thing you could change about your life, what would that be?

  • What will it take for you to feel you have lived your life with few or no regrets?

Take the LEAP and see where these questions take you!
